Limited-edition art prints are gaining popularity, prompting collectors, art lovers and home decorators to collect them for the first time. It is not only affordable and collectable but are becoming highly-regarded at major auction houses. Limited edition art prints are not original art pieces. Controlled number of prints that use special printing techniques to faithfully reproduce an original painting are employed for the production of limited-edition art prints. The artist, often together with the publisher, determines the size of edition and once reproduction is complete, materials such as printing plates are destroyed in order to maintain authenticity and integrity. Every limited edition art print carries a number which indicates the extent of the edition in that suite and which one has been purchased – such as 18/365.
